Meet Tunbridge Wells Indies Business Superheros

Tell us a bit about your business

We are a family owned, independent, award winning on-line women's clothing boutique. Based in Tunbridge Wells, we sell locally, nationally and internationally. Our main focus is helping mid life women to look and feel their absolute best. We are passionate about selling clothes that are comfortable, well priced, easy to wear/care for, and good quality. Our ranges are on trend and stylish and Lynne hand picks our clothing and accessories from a range of European brands. Customer service is absolutely paramount to us, and we pride ourselves on it. We also offer complimentary styling sessions in our beautiful Styling Room near the Pantiles, and these can be booked via the "Come & See Us" diary system on our website.

How long have you been in business?

We launched The Meek Boutique in 2018, and prior to that I was a personal stylist for several years.

What do you love the most about running a business?

Firstly, having the ability to help so many women feel good about themselves makes me incredibly happy. We have nearly 50k customers worldwide, and we get masses of lovely feedback and photos. And secondly, working every day with my husband and son is a very special thing. There's nothing like it, and it makes me very proud indeed. We all have different skills, but between us we have everything we need for the business.

What do you struggle with the most?

Time. (Or should I say lack of it!) We set very high standards for the business, and as a team are always incredibly busy, so we are always fighting the clock.

Tell us a bit about your business

Do you love the idea of building your business on social media but don’t know where to start? Are you short on time and feel overwhelmed at the thought of marketing your business through social media?

I love helping creative businesses, such as bakers, jewellers, artists and crafters with their social media. We strip back the overwhelm and take things calmly, one step at a time.

Social media marketing doesn’t have to cost a fortune. I offer affordable services to help you promote your business and get on top of your social media.

How long have you been in business?

I’ve been in business for 4 years.

What do you love the most about running a business?

YOU! I have met some incredible people and it is such an honour to find out more about them and help them showcase what they do.

What do you struggle with the most?

Self confidence - I find myself comparing my business to other people who do roughly the same thing, but also knowing that I have different circumstances and nobody else has my brand, way of writing or experiences.

Penelope Coffee Roasters

Tell us a bit about your business

We're an independant micro roaster, roasting speciality coffee for espresso and filter brew methods.

We've recently opened our roastery in Tunbridge Wells, where we roast and despatch coffee to our wholesale customers.

Our roastery door will be open Fri & Sat for takeaway coffee and retail bags of coffee.

We are open on FRI 10-2 & SAT 8-12.

How long have you been in business?

We’ve been roasting since Feb 2022 & opened our independant roastery in May 2025

What do you love the most about running a business?

Sourcing the coffee beans from different origin around the world and learning how the farmers and communities are supported through the importers we buy from.

Also the added flexibility it has given us with our girls, being able to build the business with them around.

What do you struggle with the most?

Cash flow for growth is likely a quick answer and then our next challenge, which is also part of the fun, is having face to face time with potential new customers so we can share our coffee and grow.

What do you struggle with the most?

Wearing many hats as I’m a single mum & also the owner of Bookmania children’s books. It’s Gin O’Chock is my second business. I find it a challenge doing everything myself including marketing, stock management & running events. If I had to pick one it would be the admin - more automation is needed!
